On the early evening of September 28, 2021, an armed man approached a woman walking on a path in the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park. He dragged her into a wooded area where he continued to sexually assault her and demand money from her. Investigations concluded that 38-year-old Rogelio Calyeca Postrero was the individual who attacked the woman.
The defendant was charged with first-degree Kidnapping, first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault, first-degree Robbery, second-degree Sexual Assault, third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
On June 8, 2023, the defendant appeared before the Honorable Benjamin S. Bucca, J.S.C., and pled guilty to First-Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault. Calyeca Postrero could be facing a sentence of 20 years in NJ State Prison and will be subject to Megan’s Law along with Parole Supervision for Life. On October 30, 2023, the defendant is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Bucca.
