Philip N. McGrantham was sentenced to five years in state prison for his involvement in two bank robberies that happened in September of 2019.

The investigation into the case was a joint effort orchestrated by the Pequannock Township Police Department, the Wayne Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit.
On September 26, 2019, wearing a fake beard, Philip McGrantham entered a Wells Fargo Bank in Pequannock Township, NJ and demanded money from the clerk. After being provided the sum of money, he fled the scene. Four days later, the defendant entered a TD Bank in Wayne Township, NJ, and demanded money. The defendant threatened the clerk that he would detonate a bomb if money were not provided.
Later that afternoon, the defendant was located and arrested at his home in Little Falls, NJ. He was found with items from his TD Bank robbery. On May 8, 2020, McGrantham pled guilty to first degree Robbery and second-degree Robbery. McGrantham must serve a combined sentence of five years in New Jersey State Prison. He must serve 85 percent of that term to be considered for parole. He was also ordered by the court to pay restitution for unrecovered proceeds from the Pequannock Township robbery.
