On November 11, 2022, the Maywood Police Department responded to Terrance Avenue in Maywood, New Jersey, where a home invasion occurred. Three male suspects with handguns demanded approximately $32,000 in cash from the homeowner, as one of the males pointed a semi-automatic gun at the residents. Surveillance footage recorded the male suspects fleeing from the scene in a black Honda CRV.
After an investigation was made by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad, Derick De La Rosa, Ismael Carrasco-De La Rosa, Joaquin Portorreal-Garcia, and Francisco Rojas-Corporan were identified as the suspects. On August 17, 2023, BCPO detectives as well as the FBI-NJ Violent Crimes Task Force executed arrest warrants in Perth Amboy, New Jersey; the Bronx, New York; and Yonkers, New York, in which all suspects were arrested without incident.
Francisco Rojas-Corporan was charged with first-degree armed robbery, second-degree conspiracy to commit armed robbery, second-degree armed burglary, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, third degree theft, and fourth-degree aggravated assault by pointing a gun. Rojas-Corporan is incarcerated in Bergen County Jail awaiting his first appearance.
Derick De La Rosa was charged with first-degree armed robbery, second-degree conspiracy to commit armed robbery, second-degree armed burglary, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, third-degree theft, third-degree hindering apprehension, and fourth-degree aggravated assault by pointing a gun. De La Rosa was detained in the Westchester County Department of Corrections pending extradition to Bergen County, New Jersey.
Joaquin Portorreal-Garcia was charged with first-degree armed robbery, second-degree conspiracy to commit armed robbery, second-degree armed burglary, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, third-degree theft, and fourth-degree aggravated assault by pointing a gun. Portorreal-Garcia was detained at NYPD’s Central Booking in Manhattan, New York, pending extradition to Bergen County, New Jersey.
Ismael Carrasco-De La Rosa was charged with first-degree armed robbery, second-degree conspiracy to commit armed robbery, second-degree armed burglary, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, third-degree theft, and fourth-degree aggravated assault by pointing a gun. Carrasco-De La Rosa was detained at NYPD’s Central Booking in Manhattan, New York, pending extradition to Bergen County, New Jersey. All these charges are merely accusations, the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
