Juveniles Charged with Connection to a Shooting in Paterson, NJ

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa declared that a 15-year old male and 16-year old male both from Paterson were arrested in connection to the shooting on October 25, 2023, in the area of Halpine Street and North 2nd Street, Paterson, New Jersey. Both juveniles whose names were not released were charged with the acts of juvenile delinquency which amount of crimes of First Degree Attempted-MurderUnlawful Possession of a Weapon, second degree; and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, second degree charge, charged as if they were adults. 

In October of 2023, Paterson Police Department were dispatched to the scene of Halpine Street and North 2nd Street in Paterson, New Jersey to a report of shots fired. The Paterson Police Department located a 14-year-old juvenile who suffered a non-fatal gunshot wound and was immediately transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey for intensive care. Officers were able to locate a potential crime scene in the area. 

A juvenile delinquency complaint is only an allegation. Despite these claims, the juveniles are considered innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The case has been forwarded to the Passaic County Family Court, Juvenile Division, for further proceedings.
