On Friday December 20th, 2024, Jonathan J. Gavin was arrested on counts of third-degree Possession of Child Pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(b)(iii). He was held in Bergen County Jail while waiting for his appearance in Bergen County Superior Court.
A search warrant was executed on Monday December 16th, 2024, by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit. The search warrant allowed for the investigation of the internet activity of Gavin. The investigation uncovered that Gavin was using his access to the internet in order to view, download, and save images and videos that depicted both prepubescent and pubescent minors in sexually explicit scenarios and positions.
Bergen County Prosecutor Musella stated that these charges are merely accusations and that Gavin remains innocent until he is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Musella also extends a thanks to the Hackensack Police Department and the New York City Police Department for their help with the investigation of this case.
