Cecilia Murillo Viera, 36, was arrested for Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Simple Assault. Her arrest is a result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Oakland Police Department.
The police allege that on December 1st, 2024, a case of alleged child abuse was brought to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, by the Oakland Police Department. An investigation pursued and revealed that Viera physically assaulted a child under the age of sixteen, in Oakland, NJ. She was swiftly arrested and charged with second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(2); and Simple Assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1a(1), a Disorderly Persons Offense.
Bergen County Prosecutor Musella stated that the charges are accusations and that Viera is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
