Kalimah Toon Charged in Connection to Bayonne Hit and Run

On October 17th, 2024, Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit officers arrested Kalimah Toon due to her connection in a hit and run incident. She was charged with Second-Degree Aggravated Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(1); Third-Degree Aggravated Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(2); Third-Degree Possession of a Weapon (motor vehicle) for an Unlawful Purpose in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4d; Fourth-Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (motor vehicle) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5d; Third-Degree Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Collision Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1.1; Third-Degree Endangering an Injured Victim in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1.2a; and Third-Degree Hindering in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-3b(4).

Allegedly, at 12:20am on October 13th, 2024, Bayonne Police responded to a report about a struck pedestrian in the area around route 440 and 22nd street. Officers found the victim that was struck as he was suffering from life-threatening injuries. After the pedestrian was hit, the vehicle fled from the scene and the man was later transported to the Jersey City Medical Center where he is currently in critical condition. Kalimah Toon and the victim knew each other prior to the incident. According to officials Kalimah Toon got into an altercation with the victim, which then led to Kalimah Toon entering a Ford Escape and deliberately striking the victim with the vehicle. 
The charges are only accusations and Kalimah Toon is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
