On November 26th, 2024, the arrest of Benjamin P. Ritter, 23, was announced by Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella. Benjamin P. Ritter was charged with second-degree Possession of Child Pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(b)(ii).
According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, on September 13th, 2024, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit was in the middle of conducting an ongoing internet child pornography investigation. Through this investigation, Benjamin P. Ritter was identified, and a court-authorized search of his internet activity, and electronic devices revealed that he viewed, saved, and downloaded 31,110 items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit images and videos of pubescent and prepubescent children. As a result of the investigation and search, Benjamin P. Ritter was arrested on Monday, November 25th, 2024, in Paramus, New Jersey.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office states that the accusations against Benjamin P. Ritter are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
