According to the Paramus Police Department, officers responded to an attempted robbery on Saturday, April 27th, 2024, at approximately 8:35 p.m. As officers arrived at the scene, an idle vehicle was noticed. Inside of the vehicle were multiple suspects, as well as Jonnathan Diaz-Gomez who was seen crouching on the side of the car. Once officers began approaching the vehicle, the suspects began to flee. Jonnathan Diaz-Gomez and one other man were taken into custody.

An investigation was promptly launched by the Paramus Police Department, which revealed that the suspects were planning to burglarize a home. Jonnathan Diaz-Gomez was designated as the getaway driver, and was charged in relation to the incident. Following the charges, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Crime Reduction Task Force launched a joint investigation to determine whether the burglary was a part of a larger known plot. Detectives uncovered that three other residential robberies were identified to be related to the initial April 27th incident. Jonnathan Diaz-Gomez was charged in relation to a Paramus incident that took place on March 26th, 2024, a River Edge incident that took place on April 6th, 2024, and a River Edge incident that took place on April 20th, 2024.
