On January 10th, 2025, charges against Faton Boqolli, age 31, were announced by Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Thomas Bryan of the Edison Police Department. Faton Boqolli was charged with Sexual Assault, Criminal Restraint, and Criminal Sexual Conduct.
According to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, on August 5th, 2024, Detective Daniela Castro of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and Detective Michael Geist of the Edison Police Department received a report of an alleged sexual assault incident. The female victim claimed that she had been sexually assaulted by Faton Boqolli. This prompted the start of an investigation by both detectives, and it was revealed that Faton Boqolli had met the victim through Facebook. Faton Boqolli and the victim planned an in-person meet up after talking to each other online. During this meeting, is when Faton Boqolli allegedly sexually assaulted the victim.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Faton Boqolli are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
