Brayan Carabello from Paterson Arrested for Connection to Fatal Shooting from October 3rd, 2023

On June 6th, 2024, the arrest of Brayan Carabello, age 19, was announced by Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi. Brayan Carabello was charged with first-degree Murder, first-degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder, first-degree Attempted Murder, second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

According to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, on October 3rd, 2023, at around 3:47 p.m., officers from the Paterson Police Department were dispatched to a reported shooting in the area of Broadway and Rosa Parks Boulevard. When officers arrived at the scene, three victims were found suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims, 23-year old Jerrell Wright was shot in the chest multiple times and was pronounced dead at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center. The other two victims, 19-year old Shaheem Clark, and 57-year old Charles Obee, both recovered and survived. An investigation launched by the Paterson Police Department identified Brayan Carabello as one of the assailants involved in the shooting. 


The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Brayan Carabello are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
