Bryan Gonzalez of Bushwick, NY, Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison for Shooting Girlfriend to Death

Eric Gonzalez, the Acting District Attorney of Brooklyn made public the case of a 36 years old Bushwick resident who got a sentence of 20 years in a federal prison on account of killing her girlfriend after shooting her in the face. The defendant was also in possession of a notable amount of narcotics at his place. He pleaded guilty to the possession of narcotics and manslaughter in this month’s beginning.

The acting DA said that this lengthy sentence warrants the defendant accountable of committing a brutal crime and the office is motivated to continue putting this kind of criminals behind bar like they did in this case.

The defendant was identified by the acting DA as Bryan Gonzalez, a resident of Bushwick having 26 years of age. Matthew D’Emic, the Supreme Court Jusice of Brooklyn sentenced him today to 12 years of prison time along with five years parole. Both the sentences are supposed to run concurrently.

The acting DA also told that according to the evidence collected by the investigators, the defendant joined the victim sometime after the midnight on 22nd August, 2015. The victim, Tanya Collazo was 33 years old and was dating the defendant on and off. She left with him around 5 am and got to his apartment on Suydam Street.

Around 7:30 am in the morning, the defendant got to a deli and asked someone to call the authorities as he just murdered his girlfriend. The responding officer saw the victim dead with a bullet wound in the face. She was found in the bedroom and the loaded pistol was lying around in the hallway just outside the room. The defendant claimed that the whole thing happened accidentally.

The police also recovered more than 8 ounces of heroine along with more than half ounce of cocaine from the bedroom of the defendant. Drug paraphernalia was also found, suggesting that the defendant was high on drugs when the whole accident took place.

Sabeeha Madni, the senior ADA prosecuted this case under jurisdiction of the domestic violence bureau of the DA.
