Passaic County Jury finds Paterson Man found Guilty of First-Degree Aggravated Manslaughter

On October 19, 2017, Honorable Judge Adam E. Jacobs, presiding over a murder trial in passaic where the jury found a Paterson man, Courtney Simpson, 34, guilty after jury trial.

On September 12, 2017, jury selection initiated, and the trial began on October 3, 2017. Soon thereafter on October 19, 2017, the jury found that Courtney Simpson was guilty on First-Degree Aggravated Manslaughter, Second-Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Second-Degree Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose. For the crimes committed, Mr. Simpson is open to up to thirty (30) years in State Prison on the count of Aggravated Manslaughter and up to ten (10) years for the weapon counts. These counts are subject to the No Early Release Act.

At trial, the State showed evidence that Mr. Simpson fired a weapon and killed Ferron Green in the vicinity of Ellison Street and East 18th Street in Paterson, New Jersey.

Mr. Simpsons bail of $1,000,000.00 was revoked by the Honorable Judge Adam E. Jacobs and is set to appear in front of same on December 8, 2017.
