Gurbir S. Grewal, the Bergen County Prosecutor, today announced the arrest of Fairview Police Officer, Vache “Mike” Assadourian of Ringwood, New Jersey.
Police Officer Assadourian is employed as Full Time Fairview Police Officer). Assadourian has been charged with both Invasion of Privacy and Stalking. Sometime during January 2017, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that Fairview Police Officer VACHE ASSADOURIAN may have surreptitiously placed a Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking device on a former girlfriend’s vehicle without permission.
This triggered the investigation by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Confidential Investigations Unit and the Fairview Police Department Internal Affairs Unit who
confirmed that Officer Assadourian’s former girlfriend discovered a GPS on her vehicle.
Aslo during the investigation it was learned that, for almost three months, Assadourian had been tracking his former girlfriend’s movements using the GPS device without departmental permission. FThe Prosecutors office also revealed that Assadourian had also disclosed personal private information of another’s personal life without their consent.
As a result of the investigation: VACHE ASSADOURIAN was served with a Summons issued by the Bergen County Central Municipal Court on March 23, 2017 in Hackensack and charged with violating one count of Invasion of Privacy, N.J.S.A. 2C:14- 9(c), a Third Degree crime and one count of Stalking, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-10(b), a Fourth Degree crime. VACHE ASSADOURIAN is scheduled to appear in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court for a first appearance on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, 8:30 a.m.
Bergen County Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would also like to thank the Fairview Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
