Fort Lee Man Arrested in Brinkerhoff Avenue Hit and Run

Palisades Park, N.J. (March 14, 2017) — A Fort Lee man has been arrested and charged after he caused serious injury to a pedestrian and left the scene of the motor vehicle accident on Friday, March 10, according to information released by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office March 14.

Alexander T. Kim, 28, of 1522 Tenth St. was arrested following a joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident unit and the Palisades Park Police Department. Police received a report of a person struck by a vehicle at about 7:40 p.m. in the evening of March 10 and found a woman lying in the roadway on East Brinkerhoff Ave. between 6th and 7th Streets who had been hit. The driver and car left the scene.

The victim was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries, while police investigating the accident found vehicle parts indicating the car was a black, 2016 Kia Optima.

The evidence led police to Kim, who they determined struck the victim while she was crossing Brinkerhoff and fled the scene instead of providing aid. Kim was charged with one count of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury, a third degree crime. He was also issued a traffic summons for leaving the scene of an accident. His is scheduled for first appearance in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing court Monday, March 27 at 8:30 a.m.

This is merely a charge. All people are presumed innocent.
