George Wohar Jr. of North Plainfield, New Jersey, Charged for the Possession and Distribution of Child Pornography

On July 3rd, 2024, the arrest of George Wohar Jr., age 63, was announced by Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., and North Plainfield Chief of Police William Parenti. George Wohar Jr. was charged with second-degree Distribution of Images Depicting the Sexual Exploitation and/or Abuse of a Child, and third-degree Possession of Images Depicting the Sexual Exploitation and/or Abuse of a Child.

According to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, they were notified by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) of several tips they received about Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) being connected to several electronic service providers. The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations/Computer Crimes Unit launched an investigation that uncovered all suspected electronic service providers were associated and connected to George Wohar Jr..

The investigation in conjunction with the newly found information prompted a court warrant to be executed to search George Wohar Jr’s. residence. During the search, George Wohar Jr’s. electronic devices were seized for forensic examination, including his personal phone and tablet. The forensic examination revealed multiple files containing images and videos of child pornography. As a result of the newfound evidence, George Wohar Jr. was arrested in his residence without incident on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024.

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Goerge Wohar Jr. are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
