Gerald Veneziano of Belleville, New Jersey, Charged with Homicide for Fatal Crash in Roxbury

On June 24th, 2024, charges against Gerald Veneziano, age 41, were announced by Morris County Acting Prosecutor Maggie Calderwood, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Roxbury Police Chief Dean. Gerald Veneziano was charged with one count of second-degree Reckless Vehicular Homicide.

According to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, a motor vehicle crash was reported on Howard Boulevard in Roxbury at approximately 10:30 p.m., on May 31st, 2024. The vehicles involved were a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado that collided with a 2019 Mazda 3. The driver of the 2019 Mazda 3 was identified as 19-year old Jacob Davis of Flanders. Jacob Davis was unfortunately pronounced dead on the scene following the crash. The driver of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado was identified as Gerald Veneziano. Following the crash Gerald Veneziano was transported to Morristown Medical Center to be treated for his serious injuries. 

The crash prompted an investigation to be launched, which revealed several open containers of alcohol were inside of the Silverado Gerald Veneziano was operating before and during the time of the crash. The investigation also uncovered that Gerald Veneziano was driving at 90 miles per hour at the time of the collision. 


The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Gerald Veneziano are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
