Thursday June 1, Homer Griffin, 51, of Grand Concourse received two consecutive sentences of 7 to 14 years in prison. The incident for which he was convicted was caught on video and took place on March 3, 2017. He plead guilty before Bronx Supreme Court Justice Steven Hornstein.
The afternoon of the incident, Griffin followed an 81-year-old woman into the elevator of her building. The video clearly shows him pretending to help her out of the elevator then abruptly turning on her, holding a razor blade in front of her face and threatening her.
He said to her, “I want the money, give me the money. I’m going to cut you.”
Griffin managed to take $200 from her wallet and ran. Before this incident, he had 15 arrests, three of which led to attempted robbery convictions.
Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark condemned Griffin’s actions stating, “It is hard to fathom that someone would terrorize an elderly person… We hope this sentence provides her [the victim] with justice and some sense of security that he will be behind bars.”
