Homicide in Elizabeth, New Jersey; Ronaldo Corte Charged with Murder

On January 14th, 2025, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel, Elizabeth Police Director Earl Graves, and Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca announced the arrest of Ronaldo Corte. Ronaldo Corte was arrested on January 12th, for his connection to the murder of Lucrecia E. Jadan Sumba that took place on January 8th. 

According to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, Lucrecia E. Jadan Sumba’s family reported her missing on January 9th, 2025. Two days later, on January 11th, 2025, Lucrecia E. Jadan Sumba’s remains were found in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania. The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office ruled the death after an autopsy was performed. The Union County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force, Elizabeth Police Department, Coopersburg Police Department, and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office launched an investigation that led to Ronaldo Corte’s identification and involvement.
The Union County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Ronaldo Corte are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
