Last Wednesday, Bergen County police arrested Michael F. Grennile, 33, on charges of Identity Theft.
Grennile allegedly used a Bergen County resident’s identity on social media. From April 2016 to December 2016 he used the name and pictures to contact others online. The investigation reports that the defendant would message other adults asking for nude images. The victim whose name Grennile used choses to remain anonymous.
According to the Prosecutors Office, between April 2016 through December 2016, Michael F. Grennile had assumed the identity of a Bergen County resident on the Internet and on social media sites. According to the victim who contacted authorities recently, the unknown person falsely used the victim’s identity and likeness for many months.
The defendant has since been released on summons but must appear in court on July 5. The exact charge is a fourth-degree count of Impersonation.
All persons are assumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
