Junior Nunez from Paterson, New Jersey, Arrested for Involvement in Kidnapping and Carjacking Incidents

On June 28th, 2024, the arrest of Junior Nunez, age 33, was announced by Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi. Junior Nunez was charged with first-degree Kidnapping, first-degree Carjacking, second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, second-degree Certain Persons Not to Have Weapons, third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and two counts of the Disorderly Persons Offense of Simple Assault.

According to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, at approximately 10:39 p.m., on June 27th, 2024, a carjacking and kidnapping was reported in the area of Piercy Street and Holsman Street in Paterson, New Jersey. Responding officers of the Paterson Police Department were informed that a 34-year old mother and her 2-year old child had been carjacked and held at gunpoint, while being kidnapped. A police investigation identified Junior Nunez as the assailant, and at approximately 6:53 a.m. on June 28th, 2024, he was arrested without incident by officers from the Paterson Police Department.


The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Junior Nunez are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
