After pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute crack-cocaine, Kenneth “Saleem” Hammond, 49, was sentenced to 108 months of prison. U.S District Judge Katharine S. Hayden also ruled after he serves his sentence, he will be on supervised released for five years given the amount was over 280 grams of crack-cocaine.
Hammond, of Newton, New Jersey, ran a drug enterprise involving several distributors in Essex County. He was discovered in November of 2015, when police conducted a drug bust on his two Irvington homes. He had approximately 30 pounds of cocaine, in crack and powder form.
His former employee and associate Antonio “Mo” Bivens, 44, of Irvington as well, awaits sentencing on June 27 before Judge Hayden. He has also already plead guilty to the charges.
