Maicol Fernandez of Bernardsville, New Jersey, Arrested for Late-Night Robbery

On March 11th, 2024, the arrest of Maicol Fernandez, age 18, was announced by Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., and Bernardsville Borough Chief of Police John Remian. Maicol Fernandez was charged with first-degree Robbery, and second-degree Burglary.
According to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, a 911 call was made at approximately 12:22 a.m., on March 5th, 2024, reporting an armed robbery in progress. Bernardsville Borough Police met with the victim who called to report the robbery. The victim told police that an unknown male entered his home and threatened him with a knife, while demanding money. Allegedly, following the initial encounter, the victim and assailant got into a physical struggle, which caused the victim to sustain minor injuries. The suspect then forcibly took the victim to a nearby bank, and demanded for him to withdraw money from an ATM. The suspect then fled after taking the money from the victim. The report led to an investigation being launched by detectives from the Bernardsville Borough Police Department and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit. Detectives were able to identify Maicol Fernandez as the assailant responsible for the robbery, thereafter Maicol Fernandez was arrested on March 5th, 2024.
The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Maicol Fernandez are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
