Michael Williams Charged with Invasion of Privacy

On October 30th, 2024, Middlesex County Prosecutor, Yolanda Ciccone, and Police Chief Kenneth Cop, of the Rutgers Police Department, announced the arrest of Michael Williams in connection to several Invasion of Privacy incidents that took place between October 2nd and October 25th on a Rutgers University Campus.

According to authorities, Rutgers Police received several reports about incidents of women being recorded in their dorms, as well as a call received on October 2nd, about a female student being filmed while using the restroom. The ongoing reports led to an investigation being launched by Sergeant Robert Calvert, of the Rutgers University Police Department, and Detective Haley Hlavka, of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation led to the identification of Michael Williams, and the discovery of him using his personal mobile phone in order to invade the privacy of female students by filming and taking pictures while they are in the bathrooms.

As a consequence, the investigation led to the arrest of Michael Williams on October 25th, 2024. Michael Williams was charged with three counts of Third-Degree Invasion of Privacy, and one count of Fourth-Degree Tampering with Evidence.

The charges against Michael Williams are accusations and he remains innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
