Patrick Camilli of Washington Township Gets Life Sentence For Murder Conviction.

59-year-old Patrick J. Camilli of Washington Township was handed a life sentence by Bergen County Superior Court Judge James Sattely. The Conviction was announced by Prosecutor Mark Musella in the Bergen County Superior Court. The sentence was in response to his conviction of the murder of Mary E. Huber in 2021.

At approximately 12:05 a.m. on Sunday, October 24, 2021, the Washington Township Police Department reported to a private residence in Washington Township, New Jersey, as a 911 call response. Officers found Patrick J. Camilli lying on the floor on top of a 51-year-old woman, Mary E. Huber, with a knife nearby. Mary E. Huber was transported to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ, where she was then pronounced deceased. Her autopsy, preformed by the Office of the Bergen County Medical Examiner revealed at least 29 sharp force injuries and 20 blunt force injuries as a result of the attack. 

Camilli was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment of self-inflicted stab wounds. As a result of earlier investigation, he was arrested by Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Squad and the Washington Township Police Department upon completion of his treatment for the murder of Mary E. Huber.

On October 7, 2024, following a four-week trial before the Honorable James X. Sattely, P.J.S.C. in the Bergen County Superior CourtCamilli was convicted by a jury of murder and for the possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and for the purposeful or knowing killing of Mary E. Huber.

The State was represented by Bergen County Assistant Prosecutors Craig A. Becker and Assistant Prosecutor Yomara Castro of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office (BCPO). They were also assisted by Sergeant Anthony Primiano and Detective Jeff Hansen of the BCPO Major Crimes Unit and Susan Tanis, a BCPO Victim Advocate

During a proceeding in the Bergen County Superior Court before the Honorable James X. Sattely, P.J.S.C. on December 6, 2024, Patrick J. Camilli was then sentenced to life imprisonment in a New Jersey State Prison.
