A shooting that left a woman dead and a man seriously injured is under active investigation. At around 4:00pm on Wednesday, February 3, members of the Plainfield Police Department responded to a report of shots being fired around the area of Lee Place and South Second Street.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Cordova-Salazar and another victim at the location. Cordova-Salazar was later pronounced dead, while the surviving victim was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. Neither victim is believed to have been the intended target of the gunfire. This investigation into the case is being led by the Union County Homicide Task Force and assisted by members of the Plainfield Police Division, Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit, and Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit.
