Registered Sex Offender Yoel Oberlander Sentenced to 13 months in Prison for Sexually Harassing Woman on Flight

Yoel Oberlander, 36, of Monsey, New York, was sentenced to 13 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges of sexual assault.

On May 29, 2016, on a flight from Tel Aviv to Newark Liberty International Airport, Oberlander harassed the woman next to him on the place. He touched her chest, thigh, and hand, later admitting that he did so with the purpose of intimidating her. Oberlander admitted to the sexual assault as well as it being with intent to stalk.

The woman changed seats and alerted the flight staff of what had happened. He was charged by the FBI that June.

Oberlander has a conviction of Second-Degree sexual assault involving an 11-year-old he picked up in his car. This is back from 2002, he has been registered as a sex offender in the state of New York since.

After Oberlander serves his prison term, he will be on supervised release for three years according to U.S. District Court Judge Esther Salas’ sentence.
