Paterson Residents Arrested on Drug Charges

During the month of December 2017, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office were made aware of individuals dispensing large amounts of drugs in the Bergen County area. Investigation revealed that a woman named Sashagaye Brown, a thirty-one (31) year old resident of Paterson, was distributing marijuana.
On December 8, 2017, police officers conducted surveillance and saw Sashagaye Brown meeting with two men, Kevin Marsh and Dale Smart, in Hackensack, New Jersey. Kevin Marsh is a thirty-nine (39) year old resident of Poughkeepsie, New York and Dale Smart is a thirty-eight (38) year old resident of Poughkeepsie, New York. MARSH and SMART both got in BROWN’s vehicle and she began to drive away.
Soon thereafter, police officers pulled over Sashagaye Brown in the Hackensack area to conduct an investigative motor vehicle stop. Law enforcement did a vehicle search of Ms. Sashagaye Brown’s car and found a substantial amount of marijuana in her trunk. Police officers seized twelve (12) pounds of marijuana and arrested all Brown, Marsh and Smart. A juvenile was present in the vehicle with Sashagaye Brown, at which time she was taken to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office where she was turned over to her mother.
Kevin Marsh and Dale Smart were both charged with Second-Degree Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana over 5 lbs. but less than 25 lbs. Brown was charged with Second-Degree Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana over 5 lbs. but less than 25 lbs and Second-Degree Child Endangerment. They are all scheduled to appear on December 27, 2017 in Hackensack, New Jersey for their first court appearance at the Central Judicial Processing Court at 10 main Street, Hackensack, New Jersey.
All persons are assumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
