Worcester, MA residents Carlos Caballero and Luis Pena were charged with Unlawful Possession of Weapon, Money Laundering, and Possession of Narcotics in Ridgefield Park, NJ

Carlos Caballero and Luis Pena were arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Weapons, Money Laundering, and Possession of Narcotics. The investigation into the case was led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

On February 19, 2020, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force conducted a motor vehicle stop on a black Honda Pilot in Ridgefield Park, NJ. After a thorough search of the vehicle, a hidden compartment containing $48,803.00 was discovered along with 2 loaded semi-automatic handguns, 100 pills of suspected fentanyl, and 1 bag of suspected marijuana.

Carlos Caballero and Luis Pena were both arrested. Carlos Caballero and Luis Pena were each charged with two counts of Unlawful Possession Of A Firearm, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1), a 2nd degree crime; one count of Unlawful Possession Of A Firearm With A Controlled Dangerous Substance, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4.1a, a 2nd degree crime; one count of Money Laundering, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:21-25(a), a 3rd degree crime; one count of Possession Of Fentanyl under one 1 ounce, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(5), a 3rd degree crime; one count of Possession Of A Defaced Firearm, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3d, a 4th degree crime ; one count of Possession Of A High Capacity Magazine, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3j, a 4th degree crime; one count of Possession Of Hollow Point Bullets, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3f, a 4th degree crime; and one count of Possession Of Marijuana under 50 grams, in violation of N.J.S.A 2C:35-10a(4), a disorderly persons offense. LUIS PENA was also charged with one count of Certain Person Not To Possess A Weapon, in violation of N.J.S.A 2C:39-7b, a 2nd degree crime. Apparently Mr. Pena has a prior Indictable conviction that prohibits him from owning a weapon.

Caballero and Pena were both transported to Bergen County Jail to await their first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ. The charges are accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Prosecutor’s Office is under the supervision of Chief Robert Anzilotti. The prosecution into this case will be led by Mark Musella.
