Monday, June 19, 2016, Zachary Canace, 43, of Brick Township allegedly came into a TD Bank on Hooper Avenue just before noon and demanded cash from the teller.
He allegedly told the bank teller, “I need 5,000 G’s strapped to go. Do not hit the alarm button and nobody gets hurt, just give me my $5,000 now.” The teller gave Canace the money and he ran out.
Another bank teller recognized him as a local and identified him to the police. One of the officers also knew Canace and lead the investigation to his home. Officers surrounded the residence and eventually Canace came out and was promptly arrested. All the money he stole during the robbery was seized.
Canace was taken to the Ocean County Jail and was indicted with robbery and theft. He awaits a court date.All persons are assumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
