Garfield Resident Charged with Distribution of Heroin

On October 18, 2017, the Bergen County Prosecutorâs Office broadcasted the arrest of Zakee R. Murphy, a twenty-seven (27) year old resident of Garfield, New Jersey. Murphy was charged for narcotics distribution. Law enforcement from multiple departments worked together in this investigation.
In July 2017, the Bergen County Prosecutorâs Office were notified of a man named Zakee Murphy being involved in the distribution of Controlled Dangerous Substances, primarily Heroin. As such, an investigation began during the months of July 2017 and August 2017 involving an undercover detective. The undercover detective bought the heroin from Murphy multiple times in different locations such as Garfield and Hackensack, New Jersey.
As such, Zakee R. Murphy was arrested on October 17, 2017 in Garfield, New Jersey. Law enforcement located roughly fifty (50) bags of heroin with Zakee Murphy at the time of his arrest. Soon thereafter, law enforcement moved in and searched his home, seizing an additional forty (40) bags of heroin, one ounce of marijuana, seventeen Xanax pills in an unmarked prescription bottle, drug paraphernalia associated with the distribution of narcotics and $2,700.00.
Zakee Murphy was ultimately charged with Third-Degree Distribution of Heroin, Third-Degree Possession with the Intent to Distribute Heroin, Third-Degree Possession of Xanax, Second-Degree Distribution of Heroin within 500 feet of a Public Park, and Possession of Marijuana Under 50 Grams (a Disorderly Personâs Offense). Murphy is set to appear at the Bergen County Judicial Processing Court located in Hackensack, New Jersey on November 1, 2017.
